A Web Developers New Working Week

Why spend the week in your comfort zone, working on the same browser under the same conditions you’re used to. Let’s switch it up a bit.

Tap Tap Monday:

Monday’s is the day to unplug your mouse and test your work using only the keyboard for navigating the site you’re working on.

Grayscale Tuesday

Tuesday is the day to test your work for various forms of colour blindness.

Spectrum - a Chrome extension

Colorblind Design - a Firefox extension

Different Browser Wednesday

Wednesday’s… If you’re used to developing for most of your day in Firefox, try Chrome, if you’re using Edge try Opera. Today’s the day to break out into a different browser for the day to develop in.

Throttle Thursday

Thursday is the day to throttle your connection. There’s a whole host of ways to do this (most of which are shown in this blogpost) my personal favourite is Slowy.

Friday

It’s Friday. The working week is nearly over. Enjoy the day in the comfort of your own browser and don’t forget the #deskbeer at 4pm.

Although this post is 'a bit of fun'. There's some sense in testing for various scenarios. I've not even mentioned "turn JavaScript off for the weekend", you can decide to do that yourself.

I don’t care if Monday’s blue, Tuesday’s grey and Wednesday too. Thursday I don’t care about you. It’s Friday I’m in love.
